Overview

The TU818 is a compact 32-channel, 50 V Module Termination Unit (MTU) designed for the S800 I/O system. This MTU is a passive component, serving as an interface for connecting field wiring to I/O modules. Additionally, it integrates a part of the ModuleBus.

The MTU's primary functions include distributing the ModuleBus signals to both the connected I/O module and the subsequent MTU in the chain. It also assigns the correct address to the I/O module by adjusting the outgoing position signals before passing them to the next MTU.

For configuration, the TU818 uses two mechanical keys that enable it to support various types of I/O modules. These keys, each with six possible positions, offer up to 36 different mechanical configurations. It's important to note that this mechanical setup does not impact the functionality of the MTU or the I/O module itself.
