The Shaft Eccentricity Monitor is engineered for high reliability in monitoring critical rotating machinery within plants. This 1-slot monitor integrates with other AMS 6500 monitors to form a comprehensive API 670 machinery protection system. It is suitable for applications such as steam, gas, compressors, and hydro turbomachinery.

Main Functionality

The primary function of the Shaft Eccentricity Monitor is to precisely monitor shaft eccentricity and ensure machinery protection. It does this by comparing vibration parameters against predefined alarm setpoints, which triggers alarms and relays when necessary.

Monitoring Mechanism:

• Displacement Sensor: Measures shaft movement proportional to shaft bowing or bent shaft.
• Mounting Options: Sensor can be mounted through the bearing case or internally on the bearing housing with an eccentricity collar near the thrust bearing.
• Operational Range: Effective for shaft speeds below 600 RPM.

Shaft eccentricity monitoring is crucial for predictive maintenance and protection of large sleeve bearing machines.

Integration and Software

The AMS 6500 Machinery Health Monitor is an integral component of PlantWeb® and AMS software.
